What Our Clients Say!
I’ve been a committed runner for over 40 years, usually 30 min, 2-3x /week. I started Nordic walking in 2017. I was seeing Susan for physiotherapy care for a running overuse injury to the Achilles tendon. I was advised recovery could take as much as 6 months and I needed to stop running altogether for the first several weeks, then gradually build up time and distance. As an active senior, I was concerned about maintaining my physical conditioning.
Susan put me on a program at Liquidgym including running on the Alter-G and underwater treadmills plus a series of strength and flexibility exercises. She introduced me to Nordic walking and I gradually built up stamina over the winter. I started with a 10 min outdoor walk – the poles have metal spikes for safety on slippery surfaces. By spring I routinely walked 40 min every other day.
Nordic walking has rejuvenated me and has been a key component in my injury recovery. Nordic walking is not only invigorating, it also helps maintain a positive frame of mind and improve posture. I find it provides a very good total body workout with beneficial results to how I look and feel.
I now Nordic walk an hour or more several times per week. I still love them and plan to take them with me on winter vacations."
