Meet Susan
Susan enjoys Nordic walking as a complement to all her activities: snow shoeing, skiing, and skating in winter; summer tennis; and year round running, yoga, and Pilates. She credits her family and friends and her passion for physical activity with keeping her young. Her hope is that the numerous therapeutic benefits of Nordic walking will enable her to enjoy the activities she loves for many years to come.
When Susan fell in love with Nordic walking she never looked back. She enjoys helping others discover the “4 F’s” of Nordic Walking: Fun, Fitness, Friends & Fresh Air.
Susan leads by example and shares her professional experience.
Susan integrates Nordic walking, where indicated, within her professional physiotherapy patient care. She has observed that people with a broad range of diagnoses have benefitted; conditions include Achilles tendinitis, frozen shoulder or rotator cuff pain, hip and knee arthritis, chronic low back pain and more.
Susan has over 16 years’ clinical physiotherapy experience working with clients with musculoskeletal conditions. As a policy and program director, she collaborated with health and physical activity experts to launch Exercise is Medicine Canada (EIMC), a national initiative providing leadership in promoting physical activity as a chronic disease prevention and management strategy to improve the health of Canadians.
Susan currently practices physiotherapy part-time at Sage Wellness.
